Frequently Asked Questions

The question asked most often is in regard to our wheels and tires.

About the rear tires.....Goodyear is our preference, however, they are extremely slow manufacturing the tires we need. They are actually tractor tires that are used for rice and cane fields. The only ones currently available from Goodyear are TD8. Since we have had such a hard time obtaining them from Goodyear, most of the buggies are running Firestone Checks. The rear tires on our buggy are:
Firestone Check 13.6/38
Firestone tires are heavier but you can cut them to make them lighter. That is a huge hassle though.

We run 4" rims.....so.....to make the 13.6 fit, we cut out a large portion of the sidewalls and bolt the remaining tire to the rim. After numerous hours squeezing, drilling, bolting and pop riveting, the height becomes greater than 60".

About the front tires.....The front tires are a whole different ball game. They are no longer made in the U.S. We can have them imported from England but those are radials, and expensive. There is a company in the U.S. willing to mold the rubber right to the rim for us but we are still looking for other options.
